Climate Living in Clyde means mild winters and bright sunshine with an average temperature of 65º. Our coldest month is January with an average temperature of 42º while our warmest month is July with an average temperature of 84º. Our average annual rainfall is 25 inches with relative humidity normally less than 50%. All this along with a normal light wind makes for a delightful climate year round.
Recreation Outdoor recreation is another of the advantages of living and working in Clyde. Golf enthusiasts will enjoy playing the 18-hole Shady Oaks Golf course located only two miles east. An additional six courses are located within 30 minutes of our city. We are also home to Clyde Lake, a city-owned and operated lake, for all water activities plus camping facilities with water and electric hook-ups.
Festivals Every fall the Chamber of Commerce hosts the annual Pecan and Bluegrass Festival with a grand celebration of crafts, food, music, and fun held the first Saturday in October. During the Christmas holidays, Celebration Park lights up a million lights from the middle of November to New Year's for holiday viewers from all over Texas and the United States.
Parks Clyde Community Park, located on FM 604 just north of I-20, provides baseball and softball fields for year round use by boys, girls, and adults. The City of Clyde recently acquired property in the south part of the Clyde and is developing it into a new playground for children.
Area Attractions Easily accessible from Clyde are attractions for all ages and interests. From the Abilene Zoo to the Buffalo Gap Historical Village to the many forts along the Texas forts Trail, there is a lot to see and do.
